The VFC Voice - December 2005

Filed under: news — dwight @ 11:47 am

There continues to be much activity taking place behind what can be viewed on the computer screen.
Main efforts and time continue to be spent on working newly arriving messages. Therefore the amount to be added as monthly updates rises and is in the 8,000 message range now.
A step by step process moves material to the site. The time spent in digitizing any particular message is the same as it’s length, plus normally about ten additional minutes spent on editing the audio quality to hopefully remove hums, buzzes etc. Next there is necessary database work and getting the ministry uploaded to the actual site. Thus far it is always a venture in attempting to balance available time among these basic steps.

As expertise grows thru repetition, the labor moves along more efficiently.
This will hopefully show up at the first of each month,Lord willing,as an increasing amount of new additions. We have hopes of becoming proficient
enough to add 500 or more messages each update.
On another issue,we cannot over emphasize the desire for VFC visitor participation.
A truly large task is the attempt to provide at least a short profile on each speaker. As said last time, these need be only a sentence or two in length,if information is limited. An example might be:
“John Doe served the Lord faithfully in the local meeting thru Awana and ocassional speaking, prior to departure for the mission field in 1927″. Profiles donated thru family and/or relatives are the best and usually the most accurate.
Another area of participation is that of helping to locate archives of worthy material.Ministry which has been stored away for years, can come to life, and be a blessing to relatives, loved ones,shut-in’s and those in remote locations.
VFC asks only the needed time in attempting the digitizing process.
And in concluding this Newsletter edition, our desire here is to say just as little as possible about money. In our society we are constantly bombarded with requests to give, give. We are entertaining the thought of later posting some degree of a financial statement,so that one can intelligently judge for themselves the need.Otherwise not much will be said on Voices For Christ concerning finances.
Overall,we just greatly enjoy trying to evolve into a genuine resource, which could be a blessing to missionaries, commended workers, and all of God’s people at large.
Warmly In Our Saviour’s Love,
The VFC Team
